Auckland police have arrested repeat sex offender Richard James Popata, who breached his parole conditions and was described as a high risk offender.
Police found Popata, whose details were circulated widely throughout the media, on Dominion Road in Mount Roskill. He was arrested without incident, said Detective Steve Williams.
Popata was released from prison on August 27, just a few days short of serving his full sentence.
He was convicted in the Manukau District Court in October 2003 of offences including assault of a child, injuring with intent to injure, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.
