The scene Downstairs is a spacious area with a long-stretch bar, high-rise tables, as well as a number of more cosy and intimate booths; the first floor houses the American diner; and the second floor has the cinema, which shows a range of current and cult movies across its diverse programme.

The grub As well as steak, ribs and chicken mains, the diner has 17 burgers to choose from, our pick being the truly epic Juggernaut, a double beef bonanza with extra emmental cheese, bacon, and onion rings.

Behind the bar In keeping with the ‘American experience’, there’s a range of cocktails, including five alco-free ones, too. Cocktails are available by the glass or pitcher, and feature the usual (Mai Tai) alongside the more salaciously titled (a pitcher of Porn Star!), with wines and draught beers and lagers, too.

Bill please Appetisers from £3; mains from £6.50; desserts from £3.90; lagers from £3.50; wine from £5.50 a glass; cocktails and shakes from £7.

Verdict With a decent array of drinks, it’s a lively venue on a Friday night, but also has scope for those seeking a quieter night.

The cheesy-but-satisfying diner means you can eat first, then move downstairs for some late-night drinks.
