A man in Russia got himself into a tricky situation this week when he flung himself down a rubbish chute to escape from his girlfriend after an arguement, falling down three storeys of his building.
Luckily he was freed without any serious injury when apartment residents heard his calls for help – emergency services had to cut the wedged in 31-year-old man out with electric jaws-of-life equipment.
Official local emergency service sources in Tyumen, Siberia said “According to the 31-year-old victim, he jumped into the metal chute on the eighth floor to escape his girlfriend”.
The convenient rubbish chutes, which are standard issue in Soviet-era apartment blocks are also widely used in US buildings.
