People at Lake Moondarra, near Mount Isa, watched in fascination and horror as the pair battled to the death, and the snake then proceeded to gorge on its defeated opponent.
According to the Brisbane Times, onlooker Tiffany Corlis, who started to watch when the snake was already beginning to win, said the fight was stretched over the course of the morning.
“As the morning sort of progressed, you could tell that both of them were getting a little weaker,” she said.
“The croc sort of gave in and the snake…started to consume the crocodile.”
According to Sky News, the victorious snake dragged the crocodile to the bank and consumed it in around 15 minutes.
