Soho’s Secret Tea Room

The scene: Soho’s Secret Tea room avoids the plastic cupcake bandwagon and is genuinely unique. ‘Hidden’ up the rickety stairs above iconic Soho boozer, The Coach and Horses, the venue is a quirky haven of mismatched china and old-school jazz.

Behind the counter: Sample one of 15 loose-leaf teas. From Jasmine Pearl, left in a dark room to infuse with petals, to Ying Zhen, picked at dawn on only two days every year, this is special stuff.

The grub: The traditional afternoon tea comes with a tier of dainty sandwiches, giant scones with cream and jam and a hefty slice of cake. Make sure you’re hungry!

Bill please:
Tea is £2.50 a pot. Full works is £14.50.

Verdict: Escape the Oxford Street mayhem and get buzzed out on tea and cake.
