No reason has been given for Steve Jones being fired from the show, but boss Simon Cowell suggested that American audiences may have had enough of Brits on the X Factor.

A Fox spokesperson confirmed the departure of both Jones and Scherzinger while Jones took to Twitter , saying:  “I won’t be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I can’t complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Scherzinger has not yet commented on her exit from the show but sources claim she is keen to focus on her music.

Earlier this week, Cowell suggested in an interview that Steve Jones would be getting the axe.

“I don’t think he did a bad job but, like ‘America’s Got Talent,’ there is a Brit limit on the show,” Cowell told the Daily Mirror.
