The Prince Albert

The scene: The spacious gastro pub vibe seemed heightened by the fact that there were few people there when we visited on a Saturday evening. But the staff were welcoming and friendly.

The grub:
Our steak and lobster risotto were both delicious and well cooked. But the triple-fried chips were far too salty and our urgent request for bread (we were post-Inception starving!) went unnoticed at first.

Behind the bar: A good range of beers and a fairly extensive wine list, which features tipples from all corners of the globe.

Bill please: Our bill came to £80, not bad for three mains and two bottles of wine.

Verdict: A pleasant little oasis off the tourist trail in Camden. But a couple of slip-ups detracted from what otherwise may have been a four-star experience.
