Kristen Stewart shows she has a future after Twilight with a fine turn as 1970s rocker Joan Jett in a film that chronicles the rise of group The Runaways.

The Runaways doesn’t delve into what drove the band, but Michael Shannon is superb as the group’s sleazy manager and director Floria Sigismondi meticulously recreates the era.

Good for: Those who love rock ’n’ roll
