The Early Learning Centre banned toy pigs from its HappyLand Goosefeather farm toy set to avoid causing cultural offence to Muslims and Jews.
One mother discovered the pig was missing when she bought a £25 farm set for her daughter’s first birthday.
The set included a pig sty and a button which makes oinking noises, but no pig.
When the mother, Caroline, complained to the ELC about the missing pig she was told it had been removed in case it upset Muslims or Jewish parents.
“This is political correctness gone loopy,” Caroline told The Sun Newspaper. “Surely if someone has issue with a toy that they don’t agree with, then don’t buy it.”
The Early Learning Center has announced that it would return pigs to the HappyLand Goosefeather Farm toy set.
