Bay had been in town filming on his fourth Transformers movie when two men approached him on the set and demanded money before assaulting him, leaving him with injuries to the right side of his face.

It is reported that the two men demanded HK$100,000 (around £8000) from Bay, which is thought to be linked to disturbance fees (money paid to local business owners for inconvenience caused by the shooting of the movie) that may or may not have been paid.

The two men also assaulted police officers before they were arrested, with a third man also arrested at the scene.

The American filmmaker did not seek treatment for his injuries and, like a trooper, continued filming on the movie, the fourth in the series, which stars Mark Wahlberg and is due for release next summer.
