The 34-year-old actor launched the attack in a bar at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris in 2009. Rhys Meyers, who has admitted to alcoholism in the past, first struck and swore at a barman who had refused to pour him another drink.
He then screamed at the policemen who came to arrest him, “I’m going to give a million dollars to ruin your life. I’ll kill you and your family.”
The actor, who was not in court for the ruling, had admitted to being drunk but said he did not recall the events.
The court handed down a one-month suspended sentence and ordered him to pay €1000 in fines.
It’s not the first time that Rhys Meyers has got into trouble at an airport. In May 2010, he was banned from United Airlines for life after unleashing an angry tirade of abuse onto staff at New York’s JFK Airport.
It is reported that Rhys Meyers checked into rehab for the fifth time earlier this year in a bid to finally banish his substance abuse problems.
