A TV actress left her dead mother to rot in the house they shared while cashing in her pension, a court heard.

Hazel Maddock, 61, and daughter Jasmine were yesterday warned they face jail after admitting failing to report the death of 95-year-old Olive.

The alarm was raised when worried neighbours reported not seeing the elderly woman for months.

The police were called last August and smashed their way into the foul-smelling, rat-infested semi-detached house in Wallasey, Merseyside.

Olive Maddock’s body had been left to decay for six months in a bedroom.

Yesterday Hazel Maddock, 61, an actress who has appeared alongside ex-EastEnders star Nigel Harman, and her 35-year-old artist daughter, Jasmine, both admitted preventing the pensioner having a lawful burial.

Hazel Maddock, who was an extra in TV soap Brookside, also admitted fraud for claiming her mother’s state pension and pension credit following her death.

A post-mortem concluded Olive Maddock had been dead for between two and six months, but could not establish a cause of death because of the state of her body.

Jasmine cried yesterday as Liverpool Crown Court was told of the grim discovery of her grandmother’s corpse.

Judge Gerald Clifton bailed both women, who have left Wallasey and no longer live together.

They will be sentenced later. The judge warned: “You must expect the possibility of a custodial sentence. These are serious matters.”

Hazel has also appeared on TV in Hollyoaks and The Outsiders.
