Tickets for the 2011 V Festival, featuring Emimen (above) and Rihanna, have sold out in a record 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Tickets for both sites – Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffordshire – were quickly snapped up after going on sale at 9am on Friday.

Artists performing this year also include Artic Monkeys, Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Pendulum, Dizzee Rascal and Primal Scream.

Irish band The Script said they were excited about performing the festival again.

Danny O’Donoghue said: “V Festival was our first ever UK show three years ago. It was a baptism of fire but we survived it.

“We love to play V; it’s a real party for both festival goers and bands. We can’t wait for it.”

Festival Director Simon Moran said the line-up was one of the strongest the festival had had

“V Festival 2011 offers a great balance of classic crowd pleasers, new emerging talent, solid live performers, and a couple of surprises thrown in for good measure.

“Fans can expect a festival experience like no other and with a host of live talent across four stages the only dilemma will be which act to see.”

This year festival-goers have the chance for a more glamorous way of camping with the arrival of V Style.

Fanscan now chill out in luxury ready built pods, yurts, tipis and pop-up hotel rooms by night.

A brand new comedy tent will have festival-goers cracking up as top funny men and women from the world of comedy showcase their best gags.
