Victoria Beckham was nominated for Designer Brand of the Year for her Victoria Beckham line at last night’s British Fashion Awards, held at the Savoy in London.

Beckham lost out on the award to designer label Mulberry in the end, but did receive the biggest cheer when her nomination was read out.

Posh second most influentual woman in the UK

The ex-Spice Girl seemed pleased with her new-found recognition in the fashion field, telling Sky News: “It’s great for me to be nominated. I’m just here to celebrate … that’s a really big deal. It gives me a lot of hope for the future of my brand.”

Naomi Campbell also received a Special Recognition gong for her 25 years in the industry, holding an emotional speech in which she said: “They always said modelling lasts for 11 years. I think the group of women that I came up with are such incredible women … It’s great that we can still be working. We like what we do.”

Fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide earlier this year, was also commemorated on the night and posthumously awarded for his Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design.

Lara Stone, who’s married to David Walliams, won Model of the Year.

“I hope this will get me recognition. Usually when I walk down the street with my husband people ask if I’m Matt Lucas,” she said in her speech.
