Women Who Eat on the Tube was started in November 2011 and has over 15,000 members.

The page features pictures of women eating on their travels, along with the time, the Tube line the eating occurred on, and the food in question.

Transport for London have encouraged women who appear on the site to call police.

TFL director Steve Burton said: “Though taking pictures of people on the tube is not illegal, we ask anyone doing so to ensure they respect other passengers.

“If any customer has concerns about such behaviour, believing there to be a sinister motive, they should speak to British Transport Police.”

The founder of WWEOT, Tony Burke, believes the fuss is for nothing.

“At it’s core, it’s just an observational photoblog which captures people doing something pretty ordinary. The feminist lobby will attack anything.” he said.
