The Tragically hip (Rounder/Decca)
It’s been 26 years and 12 albums since they first formed, but The Tragically Hip are still one of Canada’s best-loved bands, despite their awful name.
And on the strength of We Are The Same it’s not hard to see why.
The quintet certainly have a way with melody, as on pedal steel-assisted Morning Moon and lushly nostalgic The Last Recluse.
Still, they are a little OTT on the strings, which threaten to overwhelm many of the tunes here, which is, sadly, tragically unhip.
