Charlotte Edwards’ side will be contesting their second World T20 final on the bounce against defending champions Australia, who are playing in their third consecutive tournament decider.
There were a remarkable five run-outs in South Africa’s below-par 101, with just two of their batsmen reaching double figures – Chloe Tryon (40) and Mignon du Preez (23).
England cruised to the total with three overs to spare with Sarah Taylor on 44 not out when the win was wrapped up with just one wicket lost.
England won the tournament last in 2009, but when they last met Ashes foe Australia in 2012 they were on the wrong end of the scorecard.
The England women should take confidence into Sunday’s final though, given they recently beat their rivals convincingly in back-to-back multi-format Ashes series.
