Dannii Minogue quit the X Factor even though Simon Cowell wanted her to stay as a judge on the panel, PR guru Max Clifford has revealed.
Rumours have swirled that show chief Cowell wanted a shake-up, but his PR guru Clifford denied this on ITV’s This Morning.
39-year-old Dannii decided not to remain as a judge on the show as the X Factor auditions clashed with live shows of Australia’s Got Talent where she is a judge.
Clifford said: “Simon definitely wanted to keep her in because she was very popular and it has worked very well.”
He added: “I think it was more of a question of going backwards and forwards to Australia, doing 25 hours all the time, when you’ve got a baby. So I do think that would’ve had a big impact on her.”
X Factor: Dannii out, Tulisa in
Cheryl Cole will not be returning to the show either after she landed a place on the judging panel of the US show.
The new panel will include established judge Louis Walsh, Take That’s Gary Barlow and N-Dubz’s Tulisa Contostavlos. A fourth female judge is being kept a secret, but it is rumoured to be former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland.
