Anyone seen RoboCop? James Cameron’s Avatar? A Japanese firm obviously have as they have unveiled their very own machine-gun toting robot.
The 4m-tall machine, called Kuratas, was unveiled at the Wonder Festival in Japan, It is controlled by a pilot who sits within, with two machine guns at the end of each of its arms and four wheeled legs below. The machine can also be controlled remotely, too, so there’s no need to get too close to the action, if you prefer to cause havoc from a safe distance.
Sitting somewhere between RoboCop’s fearsome ED-209 machine – which brutally guns down a company executive when a test demonstration goes wrong in a famous scene from the movie – and Avatar’s pilot-steered goliaths, Kuratas is a vision straight out of science fiction. It's price tag is straight out of fantasy too as to get your hands on one of your own will set you back a cool £637,000.
