Police took a handcuffed Gerard Baden-Clay from Indooroopilly police station to the Roma Street watchouse in Brisbane after being charged with murder.

During questioning by the police, Baden-Clay’s lawyer, Darren Mahoney, indicated that he was expecting his client would be charged.

He further said that his client was “devastated.”

Accused murders cannot apply for bail in the Magistrates’ Court, so Mahoney will have to go to the Supreme Court.

However, a Supreme Court bail application cannot be heard until at least 48 hours after it is filled so it is likely Baden-Clay will remain behind bars until at least early next week.

Baden-Clay will appear in court tomorrow and Mahoney has confirmed he has every intention to defend the charge vigorously.
