London: Google Maps gets real time tube updates

To work the new feature, just click on your desired tube station on Google Maps, and a new information box will pop up displaying the lines serving the station and when the next trains depart.

The service is updated every 30 seconds and also includes planned engineering work and disruption alerts.

“Ahead of a busy summer in London, we are bringing real time service alerts for the London Underground to Google Maps,” Thijs van As, associate product manager at Google Transit, wrote on the Google Maps blog.

“We’ll let you know of any disruptions on the Underground that are happening at the time you need them most. To see these alerts, click on a station in a timetable or in the public transport directions results.”
