Star Trek director JJ Abrams is to take the reins of another science fiction series as he is set to be announced as the director for Star Wars VII, the next instalment in George Lucas’ world conquering franchise.
JJ Abrams, the man behind TV’s biggest show of the last decade, Lost, is reported to be in negotiations to sit in the director’s chair for the new Star wars film, the first since the series was sold to Disney last year.
Abrams had spuriously denied reports linking him with the job, but it now seems that he is slated to snag the biggest job in genre cinema, with The Wrap reporting his position as first choice, and Deadline confirming this.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine & Toy Story 3).
