Police have arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of Olympic medal theft.
The bronze medals were stolen from Alex Partridge and Hannah Macleod in the wee hours of Wed morning when the athletes were celebrating in Mayfair.
The Olympic athletes had been at Buckingham palace with the Queen, and the Olympic committee before the theft took place.
The pair had left the medals in an unattended blazer in the Mayfair nightclub Mahiki. The theft has received a lot of press since the event, and last night a Scotland Yard representative explained that an individual had been arrested in connection with the crime, but he had been released on bail while further investigations were taking place.
Hockey player Macleod commented on Twitter: "I'm not after punishment. If you picked up a Bronze Olympic medal that isn't yours please just send anonymously back to GB hockey-Bisham Abbey."
While rower Partridge wrote: "The London Met are doing a great job and following up on all our leads, but massive thank you to everyone else for spreading the word."
The police have explained that the jacket was taken to a police station in north-west London on Thursday morning, however there was no sign of any medals.
Mahiki representatives we appalled at the theft that took place at their club, a spokesperson said to the BBC: "Incidents like this rarely ever happen at the club, and we pride ourselves on our safe, welcoming and fun environment; our calibre of clientele and our excellent security."
