A bloody battle between royal dogs at Balmoral castle left Princess Beatrice’s Norfolk terrier badly wounded after it was attacked by the Queens welsh corgis, writes the Telegraph.
The ‘nasty’ fight in one of the Scottish castle’s corridors started when nine dogs got overexcited and the Queen’s corgis attacked 11-year-old Max who nearly lost an ear.
A royal insider told the Daily Express: “The next thing we knew there were horrific yelps and screams and it seems the corgis picked on Max.
“He was very badly injured and had to be taken to the local vet. There was blood everywhere.
"He was very lucky to survive. I heard the Princess was very upset because another of her Norfolk terriers, Millie, died from natural causes just a week or so before."
The Queen, who was somewhere else in the estate’s 50,000 acres when her furry friends attacked Max, was said to be “very upset” about what was the latest of many recent royal dog fights.
The Duke of York’s elder daughter Beatrice, 24, got Max as a Christmas gift when she was 13 and despite being loved by a Princess he hasn’t had an easy life.
In 2008 he disappeared and the Queen, the Dutchess of York and Princess Eugenie were part of a search party in Windsor Great Park before finding him after three weeks.
The royal source said: “It's ironic that the Queen was very worried about Max and helped in the search for him, but now her own dogs have attacked him.”
