Woman killed in Mayfair by falling window frame named as Amanda Telfer

Lawyer Amanda Telfer was hit by the frames of a ground-floor window in Hanover Street, Mayfair, on Thursday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma, reported the BBC.

Ms Telfer, who had worked at Keystone Law since 2005, has been described by the firm as a "talented lawyer".

A statement on the firm’s website said: "It is with great sadness that we confirm Amanda Telfer, a lawyer at Keystone Law, was killed on Thursday last week, in a tragic accident on London's Hanover Square. She was an extremely talented lawyer, much admired by her clients and colleagues. They, like us, are devastated by this news. Our thoughts are with Amanda's family."

Ms Telfer had also volunteered for the charity Reprieve, which supports inmates at Guantanamo Bay.

Speaking from Guantanamo Bay, Reprieve director Clive Stafford Smith said Ms Telfer's death was tragic. "How very sad it was to hear, and my heart goes out to her family,"  he said

Witnesses said Ms Telfer was walking past the building when the frame fell on her, and one said the victim saw the frame beginning to fall but could not move out of the way in time.

A delivery driver who made the call to emergency services said it took he and 10 other people to lift the concrete frame off Ms Telfer.
