American swimmer Ryan Lochte may be a nine-time Olympic medalist holding three world records, but his interviews never seem to go swimmingly.
27 year-old Ryan Lochte made the headlines yesterday for his public sporting of a $25,000 diamond-and-ruby-encrusted American flag grill, designed by rapper Paul Wall. Lochte's justification of his grill-wearing habit as being a 'unique way of showing my personality out to everyone' in an interview last year is just one example of his unusual (for use of a better word) interview answers and unconventional (once again, for use of a better word) interview technique.
Let's face it; Ryan's mind is about as sharp as the water he swims in. His hilarious statements from his justification of swimming, 'the reason I love swimming is because racing', to his honest self-analysis, 'what I was always good at was letting things go in one ear and out the other', have contributed to his prominent status as one of the world's most adored and favoured Olympians.
We don't care if academic professors are good swimmers, so shouldn't really pass judgement if Ryan Lochte is perhaps a sandwich short of a picnic. He seems like a kind, funny and incredibly ambitious person, who deserves all the medals he wins.
That said, here are my top three Ryan Lochte interview moments:

1. 2:31 is a personal favorite, however Ryan Lochte's math skills are brilliant, too
- 'seven times four'
- 'twenty one'
2. 1:20 'you can tell a great athlete not by how many times he wins but when he loses'
3. This whole video is great (mainly because Lochte is topless) but 'It's definitely gonna be a fight' is a fabulous quote.
