A video of a young man jumping into what he thinks is a puddle but is in fact some sort of massive hole has gone viral online.

For British viewers, the clip might recall a particular Vicar of Dibley moment. And while that was never funny, this, despite being exactly the same thing, somehow is. Go figure.

That Vicar of Dibley clip might be so painfully unfunny because you've never actually seen that episode of the Vicar of Dibley, and have only been subjected to it in shows called things like: The Greatest Ever Comedy Moments or 100 Best Ever Sitcom Bits.

It might be that slapstick comedy is intrinsically unfunny.

It might also be that this article is getting a little off message. So, without further ado, here is a young man jumping into what he thought was a puddle, but wasn't.

Warning: This video contains words beginning with F that some unspeakably tedious people might find offensive, and some preposterous laughter.

And here is the Vicar of Dibley clip, replete with its cloying canned laughter
