According to BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat, the New York group including Q Tip, Phife Dawg, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad will play the festival alongside Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z at the Olympic Park, the new venue for the festival.

The widely respected hip hop pioneers last performed together in 2010 at the Rock the Bells festival in the US after reunited in 2004.

New Yorker Nas will also perform, along with UK rap act Rizzle Kicks.

Wireless has moved from its home at Hyde Park following noise complaints from a handful of homeowners living in the area.

Tribe’s DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad recently told Montreality the group had no plans to record a new album.

“We talk about it, especially with the documentary. I think it stirred up conversations – not within the group, but just with the fans really wanting to see another record. But we haven’t talked about, so no plans.”
