The Muppets dealt a blow to Fox News during a London press conference in which Kermit and Miss Piggy told reporters what they thought of being labelled communists.

Last year, the Fox Business Network accused the Muppets of being communist, suggesting that the puppets' new self-titled film had an anti-oil company bias.

"It's amazing how far the left will go just to manipulate your kids, to convince them, give the anti-corporate message," said host Eric Bolling on Fox's Follow The Money programme.

The world has been waiting with bated breath to see how the Muppets would respond to the allegations and an answer was finally given during a London press conference last week.

When quizzed about the communist allegations, Kermit responded: “If we had a problem with oil companies, why would we have spend the entire film driving around in a gas-guzzling Rolls-Royce?”

“It’s almost as laughable as accusing Fox News of being news,” said Miss Piggy.

To which Kermit quipped: “That’s going to be all over the Internet."

And rightly so.
