An eco-friendly bed and breakfast in the New Forest has introduced a bicycle-powered TV as its newest energy-saving scheme.
Guests in the Standing Hat room at Cottage Lodge can now keep fit, watch their favourite shows and give something back to the planet.
The room also has low-energy lighting, solar panels, a wood-burning stove that produces hot water, as well as a low-flow toilet and shower to limit water usage.
Environmentally-friendly paints and low-impact building materials were used and all the room’s furniture was crafted by a local tree surgeon, from one beech tree that fell in the village.
Christina Simons, the hotel’s owner, said: “The building dates back to 1650, and was actually constructed from a reclaimed ship.
“I focused on three things when constructing the room: reducing waste, minimising pollution and using resources with the lowest impact possible.
“I also wanted to show that being green can also be exciting and fun, and guests love cycling on the bike.”
The room costs £129 per night, including breakfast.
