Travel diary: Snowbombing snow and music festival in Austria, April 1 -6

Mayrhofen’s Snowbombing fest is being touted as “the greatest show on snow”, and with very good reason.

The first week of April will be filled with fresh air, blue skies, black runs and white-hot parties – a week-long whirlwind of world-class DJs (such as Carl Cox) and bands (including Kasabian), winter sports and après-ski in a breathtaking alpine setting.

Why: English club promoters first started this event in 2000 at the French resort of Risoul.

Since then it’s got bigger and better, relocating to the Tyrolean resort and including a sensational igloo village to party in, and raucous raves held in mountainside forest clearings.
