You could call it a mid-life crisis were it not for the fact that, musically speaking, Paul Weller’s already had several.
His latest reinvention sees the singer throw the kitchen sink at 16 songs that largely forgo dreary dad-rockery in favour of a kind of 21st-century psychedelic pop.
It’s a great improvement, too, especially on the title track and She Speaks.
Not all the songs are up to scratch, but this is still terrifically welcome change for the better.
