The match, set to replace the former Barbarians v Australia match, will renew one of rugby’s most famous rivalries to celebrate NZRU’s 125th anniversary.

The Barbarians have met New Zealand 10 times since 1954, with one match in 1973 widely regarded as one of rugby’s greatest games, more recently in 2009 the Barbarians beat New Zealand 25-18.

The Barbarians are next in action against England at Twickenham on Sunday, May 28.
