Tickets are now on sale and Benefit and Funny Women are excited to announce that actress, comedian and former Funny Women finalist, Kerry Godliman, who is best known for portraying Hannah in Ricky Gervais’ hit series Derek (C4 & Netflix), will be hosting the awards. Each ticket sold will include a Benefit goody bag and proceeds will help raise vital funds and awareness for national domestic violence charity, Refuge.
Benefit has been working with Funny Women since 2011. They allow Funny Women to offer more support and more opportunities to female comedians than ever before! Hannah Webley-Smith, UK Marketing Director at Benefit Cosmetics, explains: “Our motto is ‘laughter is the best cosmetic’ and we want to make women feel good about themselves, which is why we feel Funny Women and Benefit are such a great fit. We’re excited to see who will make the final and how their career will unfold. We’re sure the event will be a huge success and are thrilled to be raising more awareness and funds for Refuge.”
Funny Women has been scouring the UK since May to find the best new female comedy talent. After heats throughout London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brighton and Manchester, the finalists will now compete for the prestigious award in London this September. Funny Women has been the launch pad for a number of female comedians who are now major household names as well as some of the most talented performers on the comedy circuit. With a decade of successful Awards behind them, many flourishing comics have been past winners and finalists in the Awards including: Katherine Ryan, Andi Osho, Zoe Lyons, Bridget Christie, Susan Calman, Sara Pascoe, Roisin Conaty, Holly Walsh and Sarah Millican.
The finalists for the 2015 awards are to be announced early September.
