The 11-year-old boy has had his arm amputated following the terrifying incident at Cascavel Zoo in Parana.

Metro reported that before the boy’s father realised his son was in the prohibited area, the tiger had attacked him, seriously injuring his arm.

Despite being taken to a nearby hospital his arm was so damaged that after several operations surgeons decided it needed to be removed.

The boy’s father was charged by police for negligence, but has since been released on bail.

Witnesses reported the boy saying: “I’m going to die, I do not feel my arm” while he was being tended to by paramedics.

Cascavel Zoo said the tiger, which is called Hu, is normally a docile animal and has been with them for more than two years.
