Brad Pitt wants to turn the real-life drama of the Chilean miners into film, and his production company Plan B has already made a bid to acquire the rights.
The film would tell the story of the 33 miners, and their horrific time trapped 700m underground, as well as their incredible rescue after 69 days beneath the surface.
“Like so many people worldwide, Plan B has been incredibly moved by the story of the Chilean miners and their families,” said company representative, Jon Liebman.
Lawyer Edgardo Reinoso who represents the miners, told Chilean newspaper el Mercurio that the production company had offered a multi million dollar sum for the rights.
He also said that some of the miners might get to play themselves in the movie, if it were to go ahead.
Plan B’s Mr Liebman did stress that the discussions still were at an early stage however.
“There have not yet been serious discussions,” he said.
Plan B has produced a string of successful films over the last few years such as Kick-Ass, The Departed, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Troy, and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
