Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden have split up, the couple announced today, ending their four-year relationship and breaking off their engagement.

There is now speculation over whether the former Westlife star will stay in Australia, where he is a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.

McFadden and Australian singer Goodrem today issued a joint statement wishing each other success and happiness.

“Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden regretfully announce that they are no longer engaged, and after much consideration, have mutually decided to end their relationship,” the statement said.

Cracks have been appearing in the couple’s relationship, with McFadden spending increasing time in Australia working as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent while Goodrem is based in LA recording her album.

Their wedding has been repeatedly delayed.

McFadden, 30, and Goodrem, 26, met in 2004 when the Westlife singer was still married to Kerry Katona. They became an item in 2007 and were engaged soon later.

Despite the break-up, McFadden was keen to show the world that there are no hard feelings.

“I love Delta and always will. She is one of God’s living angels. I thank her for giving me the best years of my life. Please give us time x”, McFadden gushed on Twitter.
