The plane was diverted to Palma de Mallorca, where mother and baby were rushed to hospital. They are said to be in a stable condition.
The plane carried on its way after the delay, and arrived in London two hours late.
As reported on the Daily Mail website, a spokesman for British Airways said: ‘Our cabin crew, who are trained in birthing procedures, assisted with the delivery of a baby on board our flight from Abuja.
‘We wish the mother and her little one all the very best.’
