Collingwood utility Tarkyn Lockyer said captain Scott Burns and fullback Simon
Prestigiacomo were good chances to play St Kilda in Saturday night’s AFL
semi-final at the MCG.
Lockyer said the Magpies had recovered well from
beating Adelaide in warm conditions last weekend, and that Burns (calf) and
Prestigiacomo (shoulder) were expected to take on the Saints.
“He should
be good,” he said of Burns, who missed the win over the Crows and the round 22
defeat to Fremantle.
“He had a hit-out yesterday … and we’ve got
another training session tomorrow, so we’ll let him have another run around and
I’m sure he’ll be ready to go.
“He’s more than happy to put his hand
up.”
Prestigiacomo battled through last Saturday’s game with a sore
shoulder, but Lockyer expected the veteran defender to also be right.
The
Magpies held a beachside recovery session today, after training yesterday, and
pulled up well after the handsome win over Adelaide.
“The guys are
feeling great, ready to attack training tomorrow,” Lockyer said.
“The
boys have pulled up (well), and I’m sure if anyone was a little bit sore they
wouldn’t tell anyone anyway because you would play with a broken leg in finals
footy.
“We’re certainly in a pretty good position where we’ve got a lot
of options to choose from as far as selection is concerned.”
