Florence’s Tenax has a history stretching back to 1981, and their takeover of the Garden is fronted by one of Italy’s best loved exports: Alex Neri. DJing since the early ’90s, his Planet Funk project hit charts around the world with their first single ‘Chase the Sun’, while today he records for the likes of Viva and Tenax Recordings, the label he runs in conjunction with the club. He’s joined by heads of Bosconi Records Minimono, who will be playing a live set highlighting their disco-tinged house sound, owing as much to Chicago as it does their native Florence. Filling in the gaps are the techno stylings of Mia Tucci, whose productions have found a home on Get Physical sub-label Kindisch, Tenax resident DJ Fabio Della Torre and Italian relocated to East London Francesco Poggi, a regular around Brick Lane.
On the Terrace, Guendalina, an open-air club in Apulia which takes advantage of the warm Italian summers, welcome Giorgia Angiuli, another Tenax resident and regular visitor to their party. Signed to Bpitch Control Records – for whom she performs as multi-instrumental live project We Love – as well as Kevin Saunderson’s legendary techno label KMS, expect a performance weaving together house, techno and dreamy vocals. Another Bpitch artist, Silvie Loto’s pedigree can be assured by her annuals appearances at Marco Carola’s Music On and Hot Creation’s Paradise in Ibiza. Joining her are Guendalina resident Giovanni Sabato alongside Marco Effe, the Berlin-based Italian producer whose tracks have graced huge techno labels including Sci+Tec, Tronic and Cocoon, and tech-house DJ/producer Andrea Giudice, who calls London his home.
The first all year round party in Ibiza for over a decade, Unusual Suspects have brought the likes of Carl Craig and Eats Everything to Sankeys over the winter months, while they have an impressive 23 week run lined up once the season starts. Their line-up on the ground floor includes a host of Italian regulars with Federico Grazzini, Frank Storm and Luigi Moretti.
Under My Feet host the Loft, headed by one of the party’s founders, Ireen Amnes, playing live, while the Apothecary hosts Speak Easy Cinema, where you can drink from a special cocktail menu while watching the entire Godfather trilogy back to back.
