A juror in the Casey Anthony trial has quit her job and fled her home after receiving death threats.
The 60 year old woman apparently told her husband “I’d rather go to jail than sit on a jury like this again” and said she feared co-workers would “want her head on a platter” before quitting her job by phone and disappearing.
The unnamed woman was a juror on the sensational trial of Casey Anthony at Orange County Courtroom in Orlando, Florida.
Anthony, 25, was accused of smothering her two-year-old daughter Caylee and dumping her body in woodland.
The jury took ten hours to clear Anthony of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child.
The verdict sparked fury across the US with many pundits comparing the result to the OJ Simpson case years earlier.
Caylee went missing in June 2008 and was found in woods near her grandparents house six months later. Her body was so badly decomposed that the cause of death was listed as homicide by undetermined means.
The jury forman foreman defended the jurors decision saying they were unconvinced by the evidence that Anthony, murdered Caylee and was not even sure a murder had been committed.
"We don't know the cause of death," the juror said. "Everything was speculation."
