Smack dab in the middle of the city is where you’ll find Sydney Observatory, which seems like a poor choice for stargazing, what with all the light pollution. Nevertheless, it works a treat and you can even see the rings of Saturn through the stunningly powerful telescope.

Starting Friday 2nd until 25th January you can join Sydney Observatory for their Celestial Nights program. Throughout the month there will be circus performances, juggling lessons and 3D movies, depending on the evening you choose to go.

Of course no matter which night you go you’ll have the chance to take a peek through the telescopes and gaze upon the heavens. It’s a humbling and daunting experience, and a must-see.
