Charlie Sheen has revealed that the reason for his recent Twitter usage is so to make money, calling it a “cash cow”.

When TMZ asked for more comments, Sheen apparently interrupted the interviewer saying: “Mike, I’m unemployed!”.

Since the troubled actor was sacked from Two and a Half Men, and the £1.4 million per episode salary he’s said to have been earning, he’s now looking for a new way of making some bucks to feed his luxurious and party-fuelled lifestyle.

And he’s not wrong in thinking that the internet can help him cash in.

Kim Kardashian is said to be making US$10,000 per ‘PR tweet’, and Sheen has announced that he’s looking to cash in $1 million on the social networking site by the end of the year.

Sheen has signed up to Ad.ly, a firm which allows celebrities to promote products in return for payment on Twitter.

50 Cent, Britney Spears and Snopp Dogg have already joined Ad.ly’s Twitter stable.

And according to the 5/1 odds of the bookmakers, Sheen has also got a good chance of racking up more Twitter followers than Lady Gaga’s 8.5 million by 2011.

Well, he’s already set a new Guiness World Record for the “Fastest Time to Reach 1 Million Followers”, which he got to in 25 hours and 17 minutes, and is now up to 1.5 million followers. Only another 7 million to go!
