Hemsworth started out on Home and Away but shot to fame in 2009 with his role in Star Trek. More success followed with a role as Thor in the movie of the same name.

Hemsworth was unable to make it to the awards ceremony in Sydney last night but accepted the award via video link, “…it’s an honour and a privilege to be acknowledged within their pages.”

Heathcote was similarly thrilled with the accolade and was honoured to be in the same league as last year’s winner Rachael Taylor.

Starring alongside Johnny Depp in Dark Shadows, Heathcote was genuinely surprised when she got the award.

“I didn’t think GQ would have even thought of me!” she said.

The other awards handed out on the night included: ‘Man of Style’ to Sam Sparro, ‘Social Force of the Year’ to Matthew Mitcham, paralympian Matthew Cowdrey took home ‘Sportsman of the year’ and ‘Solo Artist of the Year’ went to Guy Sebastian.
