He was due to voice London’s most famous bear in the upcoming film about Paddington, but after a period of deliberation, the film’s producers and Firth felt his voice wasn’t quite right.
However, there are no bad feeling’s on Firth’s behalf, and he can’t wait to see who’ll take his place.
“It’s been bittersweet to see this delightful creature take shape and come to the sad realisation that he simply doesn’t have my voice,” he said, as reported on the Sky News website.
“I still feel rather protective of this bear and I’m pestering [the producers] with suggestions for finding a voice worthy of him.”
With regards to the ‘conscious uncoupling’, Firth was referencing Gwyneth Paltrow’s statement in March when she split up with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
