Columbia Road Night Market
If you’re behind on your Xmas shopping, head along for some late-night trading at this lively Victorian arcade that’s become a landmark of the East End. Plenty of good pubs too for a post-shopping bevy.
The shops of Columbia Road have been throwing open their doors on Wednesday nights running up to Christmas for the last five years. This year over forty independent shops will be open between 5pm and 9pm on December 1, 8, 15 and 22.
It beats trawling down the high start any day and as well as a number of independent shops to browse, Columbia Road will be putting on entertainment including live music and seasonal food.
You’ll be able to do some late night shopping at stores selling everything from English cheese to vintage clothes, furniture and art before you head to one of Columbia Road’s many cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Columbia Road is one of the few streets left in the UK that is made up of only independent shops and you will get a feeling of stepping back in time. The shops were built as a Victorian arcade 150 years ago.
On Sunday, the famous Columbia Road Flower Market takes over and this is London’s best place to head for some unusual blooms.
