Carus Thompson (Valve)

With his indie credentials, surfie shtick, and acoustic leanings, it would be tempting to lump Carus Thompson in with the likes of John Butler or Jack Johnson. It would also be simplistic. Lacking Butler’s aching earnestness and armed with a gift for arrangement and melody that leaves Johnson in the starting blocks, Thompson has crafted a pleasing album of multi-instrumental folk/pop that reaches it’s zenith on the warped, textured title track.
