Whitehall, 24 and James Corden, 34, were the subject of a backlash after their performances on the show, which the Daily Mail labelled as ‘obscene’.
While there have been many who have reacted to the Daily Mail’s manufacturing outrage after the show was broadcast, the number of complaints made about the satirical quiz has now reached 165, with one of the producers of the Television Awards saying that he feels the young comedian should step aside from his presenting an award as a result.
George Mitchell, the co-executive producer of the National Television Awards, has said he feels that Whitehall should “bow out gracefully” and will be holding a meeting this coming Monday to discuss the situation.
However, a spokesman said though that the comedian is still booked to present an award and that currently there are no plans to change this.
