Super Furry Animals (Rough Trade)

Love Kraft and Hey Venus!, the last couple of Super Furry Animals’ albums, were excellent records that sank without trace.

The difference with Dark Days/Light Years is that it’s more deserving of the ambivalence with which it’ll be greeted.

It’s not a bad record; the group haven’t yet made one in their 15 years together.

But despite a few bright spots – Helium Hearts among them – Dark Days/Light Years drags more than it sparkles. WILL FULFORD-JONES
