Food
Thanks to a multicultural society, these days England’s dining options offer cuisines from all over the world and Oxford is no different.
For top-notch curry try award-winning Aziz on Cowley Road. Branca on Walton Street is a good Italian bar and restaurant serving stone-baked pizza. If you really want to splash out, Le Manoir is a two-Michelin starred French restaurant on Church Road. It’s a bit out of the way so grab a cab. Reservations are recommended.
If you would prefer to go down a more English route, try some cream teas – a time-honoured tradition of a pot of tea served with massive scones and clotted cream and strawberry jam. Delightful!
Drinking
There’s nothing more traditional then a pint of ale in a pub while in England. There is no shortage of boozers in Oxford to do this in. Eagle & Child on St Giles is a great place to start, a literary pub that CS Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien used to frequent.
